The Colour of Money on ITV

The Colour of Money is also the name of a brand new ITV game-show hosted by the ever present Chris Tarrant. The Colour of Money has been tagged as the most stressful game-show on television, this exciting although completely random television game-show appears to have taken Saturday night television by storm.

The idea for the show is to achieve a specific amount of cash upwards of £50,000 by opening cash machines and seeing what is inside. Each cash machine has a colour, hence 'The Colour of Money'.

Firstly you must find out how much you are playing for, choose one of the three cards and see what's on it. The amounts in previous weeks have varied between £62,000 and £74,000.

To win the show you must choose ten colours one at a time and once the cash machine has started you just choose when to stop it. There are twenty machines in total, each one has an amount between £1,000 and £20,000 inside, no two amounts are repeated.

Most stressful game on TV

So the chosen cash machine starts and the numbers go up one thousand pounds at a time, shout STOP when you want the machine to stop and you win that amount towards your total. Fail to shout stop before you get to the total in that cash machine and the alarm goes off and you win zero.

It's incredibly stressful for both the contestants and the viewers at home, the formula is set to test your nerve to see how far you are prepared to go on each machine before you stop, every zero scored means that you're average on the following machines need to be higher - making it even more difficult, and requiring even more nerve to reach your target - it's an exciting formula.

Colour of Money TV contestants

Contestants have family and friends to support and advise them as they choose the colour of money across the game, it's much needed support as well and many contestants have ended up in tears half way through the game.
